Bon Secour is a behavioral health facility located Park Heights in Baltimore MD. For the last two years I have been painting murals and conducting art classes in an effort to create a less sterile environment for clients and staff. Clients have contributed by painting tiles for a mosaic mural, and have been apart of the design process for the various murals that exist within the facility. There is a quote wall, which is made up of quotes provided by both clients and staff.
Mosaic with Clients
This was my first commission at Bon Secour Behavioral Health, which was a mosaic mural made up of tiles painted by the clients. It is located in the waiting room where clients wait to be seen.
Bon Secour Mural in Hallway
This mural was started by a group of volunteers, in which they came and painted the hands that were previously arranged in a square. The square was problematic being that it was just in the middle of a very long hallway without anything leading into it. I changed it to a circle and bordered it with Fleur-de-lis, the flower used in the Bon Secour logo.
This mural is in the entrance where the staff enters and exits the facility. It was created using a few of the 7 values Bon Secour stands by, Justice, Stewardship, Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Quality, Innovation

Good Help mural at staff entrance
I was commissioned to create a mural that tells the story of Bon Secours, which means Good Help in French. The story of Bon Secours began with nuns from France who were recognized for providing excellent care to a wealthy family who had gotten sick while visiting France. The family was amazed at how well they took care of all people, and had them sent for while back in America. The nuns sailed over from France in early 1900's and started the first daycare, school and hospital in Baltimore MD that took care of all people who needed assistance.
